This group explored the educational/vocational needs of residents seeking life-long learning experiences. They worked on the assumption that we are all learners and interested in establishing a life-long learning environment.
Their report gave a profile of the various community public school corporations through a questionnaire filled out by most of the school corporations. This report can be valuable to those prospective property owners in our county that consider the education systems in our communities to be important in their decision making process. They hoped this document would be available through the county public libraries, local Realtors at the administrative offices o f the school corporations and from Leadership Hendricks County
Enhancing Community Awareness of Hendricks County Schools

This group decided they could best support their desire to promote educational opportunities in Hendricks County by raising awareness of www.theyreourkids.org. They made the decision to produce bookmark size cards that could be distributed to area libraries, chambers of commerce, churches and hospitals. The full-color bookmarks promote the www.theyreourkids.org web site and urge parents to visit for more information about local schools and organizations.

This group's goal was to designate a literacy program for the H.C. Probation Dept. To increase the literacy levels of selected probationers. They not only provided a mechanism for identifying those most in need of literacy instruction, but also a plan and a process to deliver that instruction to selected probationers. Their goal was to decrease recidivism in our courts and jails.
This study of Junior Colleges and their impact on education and the future states some facts and statistics leading up to the idea of long distance learning especially in this technical age of computers. They feel that if these strategies are adopted and promoted that a wide range of people would be able to better themselves through education.

Leadership Hendricks County, Inc., a program of the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service, is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to seek, prepare, involve and sustain leaders from diverse backgrounds to address community and countywide changes. Since 1993, Leadership Hendricks County has given citizens the background and inside information they need to take on effective leadership roles in the Hendricks County community.
